HOUSTON, Texas – The first year under head coach Bill O’Brien is a winning one after the Texans beat the Jacksonville Jaguars  23-17 at NRG Stadium. The Texans finish the 2014 season with a 9-7 record.

On defense, J.J. Watt continued his MVP push by forcing one fumble and recording three sacks, one of them being a safety to put the Texans up 23-17 in the fourth quarter. Those sacks gave Watt 20.5 on the season as he becomes the first player in NFL history to have two 20-sack or more seasons in a career.

Quarterback Case Keenum was able to win his second game in a row as he was effective throwing for 250 yards and two touchdowns. One TD toss was to running back Arian Foster to open the scoring and the other was in the fourth when connecting with wide receiver Andre Johnson. Johnson had 10 catches for 134 yards. Foster had to leave the game with a hamstring injury. Alfred Blue scored a TD on the ground in Foster’s absence.

To make the playoff, the Texans needed help and they got it from the Kansas City Chiefs when they beat Sand Diego 19-7, but Cleveland could not do their part as they fell to the Baltimore Ravens 20-10.
