ARIZONA - Things got wild in the west at the polls on Tuesday!
Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton both lassoed Arizona for their respective parties. GOP candidate Ted Cruz reined in Utah and added a formal rival to his posse: Jeb Bush.
Bush dropped out of the race a month ago. Now he's urging voters to reject “The Donald,” calling Cruz a “principled conservative.”
Democrat Bernie Sanders corralled Utah and Idaho, his first victories since losing five straight last week.
Here`s the latest delegate round-up:
Trump has 739. Cruz has 425. Throw in John Kasich`s 143 for good measure, and you can see why Trump may have a hard time nabbing the nomination without a convention showdown.
Sanders is way behind Clinton. She`s got 1,681 to his 925.
The feud between Trump and Cruz has taken a tweet for the worst. Trump`s latest accuses Cruz of using pictures of his wife Melania posing nude in a political ad. He warns Cruz to “be careful” or he`d “spill the beans on your wife.”
Cruz says the ad`s not from him. “And if Donald wants to get in a character fight, he's better off sticking with me. Because Heidi is way out of his league.”
Meanwhile, Cruz is in some deep doo-doo with the NYPD. After the terror in Brussels, Cruz made some comments about Muslims that have ticked people off. Saying “police should be able to patrol Muslim neighborhoods to prevent radicalization.”
NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton says, “We don't need a president that doesn't respect the values that formed the foundation of this country. I take great offense at his characterization of that whole population.”
Call it “The good. The bad, and the ugly.” Or, just another day on the political frontier!
