HOUSTON — A north Houston family is looking for answers after a man stabbed their dog several times overnight.

The surveillance video, which was taken around 1:30 a.m. Oct. 7, shows a man standing just outside the gate of a home in the 5400 block of Hardy Street. The man is seen stabbing the family's dog Chaz in the face. The man keeps reaching through the fence to stab Chaz over and over again — leaving the dog bleeding and in pain.

The man is then seen walking away from the house before returning about 10 minutes later and stabbing the dog again.

Chaz had to undergo surgery for deep cuts on his lip and neck, investigators said.

The man is believed to be African-American or Hispanic with a receding hairline. In the video, he is wearing  a white T-shirt with an image of the Mexican flag and the word "Hardy" above it, along with dark-colored, knee-length shorts with drawstrings at the bottom and Nike tennis shoes.

Houston PETA is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the attackers arrest.
