HOUSTON, TX – Amber Buzzard grew up around shows like the The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and now as a wife and mother of two, it feels like home.
“We’re from Victoria, Texas and we’ve been raising show cattle our whole lives,” Buzzard said. “This is what my husband and I do for a living and for fun.”
Amber and her husband, Casey, run Southern Jewel Cattle Company along with Payne family. On Wednesday, they showed off their Bull, The Force, in a Simmental category at the livestock show.
“We won our class, and then we went on to win our division,” Casey said. “We’re very pleased with that.”
Both parents are happy their kids are growing up around animals, and say it’s important the animals are taken good care of and shown respect.
“We treat our animals probably better than most people treat their dogs,” Amber said. “These animals are washed and blown everyday. They’re fed very high quality, very expensive feed. They’re taken care of with the utmost quality and highest standards.”
Amber says The Force is for sale, but if he’s not sold, he’ll breed cows for the Southern Jewel company.
