Cougars start fresh training camp with Major Applewhite in charge

HOUSTON – The University of Houston football team kicked off its first day of training camp under new head coach Major Applewhite on Monday. Applewhite takes over the Cougars following Tom Herman’s departure to the University of Texas.

The Coogs return 17 starters on offense and 11 on defense.

Houston opens its season on Sept. 2 at UT-San Antonio. CW 39 will air the game broadcast live.
