Child Trapped Under Rubble of Destroyed House Saved by Rescue Worker A child in Jindires, Syria, who was trapped under the rubble of a house destroyed by earthquakes on Monday, February 6, was saved by a rescue worker with the Syria Civil Defence. On Tuesday, the country’s death toll surpassed 1,800. The Syria Civil Defence said rescue efforts were continuing “amid great difficulties” and predicted the death toll would rise. It's been two weeks since devastating tornadoes hit Pasadena, Deer Park, and neighboring communities. The cleanup of tree branches and debris from damaged homes and buildings is well underway, but the losses are huge. That was on display at a monthly "food fair" at community service organization Baker Ripley's Pasadena Campus Tuesday where officials estimated that the crowd was 20% to 30% larger than normal because of all of the tornado victims who were seeking the free food.
