For tips and tricks about how to combat the elements and save your skin. I spoke with Dr. Mirwat Sami a board-certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon …. We break down ‘Skincare for Dry Air’.
Dr. Sami tells me that when it comes to skin health, hydration is key, even if you find yourself becoming less thirsty in the cooler fall and winter temperatures.
“It is the largest organ of our body it is our protective layer everywhere and it is the most exposed to the elements. The elements can be a little different in the winters vs. the summer months so we just have to cater towards those needs.”, says Sami.
A good moisturizer should be a part of your day to day skincare routine, along with sunscreen, even in the winter.
“Living in Houston we are going to have sun exposure/ UV exposure throughout the year, it doesn’t matter how cloudy it is or how cold it is….So we should never skip that final step that one step of applying sunscreen, I think that is critical”, she adds.
